New Zealand contemporary artist Mark Dimock has been living and working in Eketahuna since 1980 where he has established a large studio workshop and gallery. 

Mark’s practice is governed by the search for original imagery and a highly technical approach to his painting style.  He  paints on rough-sawn hard wood boards. He wanted a raw look, with influences from primitive and ancient cultures such as Egyptian and Native American art. Still interested in the reflections of light playing a part in the work, he inlaid polished steel and in later works aluminium, copper and brass.
